MAINTAINING
A POSITIVE FOCUS
Overcoming Negativity in the Workplace
Are we more negative today? Talk to anyone in the business
world and the answer is most often a resounding “Yes.” Factors
contributing to negativity include organizational change (downsizing
and mergers, instantaneous global communication and resulting
competition), and socio-cultural change (fragmented family units,
increased financial expectations and pressures, and a diminished
sense of belonging to one’s community).
Negativity in the workplace is not irrevocable. It can be dealt
with effectively and successfully, but eradicating it requires
specific skills and expertise.
